About Mid-Atlantic

Our History

Mid-Atlantic Chapter submitted its membership roster and dues in December 2014 to set the stage to receive its charter in January 2015. The chapter is based in Pennsylvania.  Issuing the charter culminated a long-time interest by women at PJM Interconnection in Philadelphia. PJM is a regional transmission organization (RTO) that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in all or parts of 13 states and the District of Columbia.

The effort was spearheaded by PJM’s Helen Burnley and WINUP Vice President Carolyn Gordon, who also chaired WiNUP’s chapter development committee.

In June 2014, Gordon hosted a teleconference with the PJM group and the WiNUP executive committee. WiNUP’s officers shared their experiences during their association with the organization, highlighting the value membership has brought to them.

Because interest was high, Mid-Atlantic began with 43 charter members. The new chapter’s first officers included Lisa Morelli, chair; Jinny Park, vice chair; Diane Antonelli, secretary; Ginger Quintavalla, treasurer; and Burnley, international board representative.

Mid-Atlantic would be the fourth new chapter to be chartered under WiNUP since 2012.

“I never dreamed about success. I worked for it.”
