About South Texas

Our History

The South Texas Chapter was chartered October 1973 with 12 members, including Cynthia Salinas Snyder, a charter member of the original Texas Chapter. Snyder went on to serve not only her chapter but EWRT national through various leadership roles. She was International President in 1985-86 and has been recognized for her service with EWRT/WiNUP Honorary Life Member status.

South Texas Chapter also has sent a number of other members into service at the International level, including Lynn White, 1988-89 President; Cindy Berry, 2004 President; and former member Donna McCord, 2006 President. Several of these Presidents served in all four International offices and multiple terms on the Board of Directors.

Since the 1973 division of the Texas Chapter, South Texas members also have planned or partnered with other chapters to coordinate International conferences, including 1995 in San Antonio, 2001 in Forth Worth, 2004 in San Antonio, 2014 in Dallas, and the upcoming 2022 in Little Rock.
